1. Scope
1.1 This Standard covers the design, fabrication, qualification, installation, and inspection of CANDU nuclear power plant electrical and instrument air support power systems. These support power systems are part of the category of systems called safety support systems. ,, 1.2 Support power systems of a CANDU nuclear power plant include those parts of the electrical systems and instrument air systems that are necessary for the operation of safety-related systems. ,, 1.3 The support power systems may also be utilized for the generation of electrical power and for equipment protection, but only the requirements associated with nuclear safety are considered in this Standard. ,, 1.4 The electrical support power systems comprise the Class I, II, III, IV, and EPS electrical systems as required to meet the nuclear safety requirements of the station. ,, 1.5 The instrument air support power system comprises the components of the plant instrument air system that are necessary for the operation of safety-related systems.
